Fairy-tale Weddings of Bollywood

The word ‘wedding’ brings to the mind a picture of a beautiful bride, groom, a perfect venue, music and merriment. But most importantly, the love between two very special people is cherished and admired. Many Bollywood couples apparently had a perfect wedding if they are no longer together today. If they are still hitched, their fairy tale still exists.

Let’s see how Bollywood’s sweethearts celebrated the most important day in their lives.

Hrithik and Suzanne

They were childhood sweethearts. They got married in 2000 right after the successful release of the film, Kaho Na Pyar Hain which was directed by Rakesh Roshan. They looked like angels that had descended from heaven. The wedding took place at a heavily guarded Golden Palms Resort and Spa. Very close friends and family members were invited to this grand event.

Abhishek and Aishwarya

These two exchanged rings and hearts in 2007. The wedding was very privately conducted with minimal interference of media and publicity. Guests such as Karan Johar, Preity Zinta, Sanjay Dutt and Kajol celebrated this grand event with the Bachchans and they married like royalty.

Amrita and Shakeel

Amrita found the love of her life when she met Shakeel Ladak. She had met many men who were not her kind of men. When she finally settled for the only one for her, she married him in a church in the presence of family and friends. Kareena Kapoor and her sister, Malaika, were her bridesmaids. After that, they had a nikah. Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan were the show stoppers at the event, although other stars also made the evening dazzle.

Shilpa and Raj

This couple has very recently had a very expensive wedding. It was known as one of the most lavish weddings in the history of Bollywood weddings. They were married just like princes marry their princesses.

Lara and Mahesh

When Miss Universe married Tennis superstar Mahesh Bhupathi, it roused everyone’s curiosity. They were careful enough to prevent the paparazzi from disrupting their wedding plans. Their wedding pictures suggest how closely their wedding resembled the weddings that are described in the pages of a royal love story.

Karisma and Sanjay

Karisma chose to marry her best friend, Sanjay. They had a classy Punjabi wedding. The celebrations, décor, food and music enchanted everyone and entertained almost the entire industry. Talk about a big fat Indian wedding and you immediately think about the wedding party of the Kapoors.

Gul and Rishi

Rishi Attari and Gul Panag were long-time friends. Their wedding was a little unconventional. Bikes, aviators, beer and merriment set it apart from other conventional weddings that we usually catch a glimpse of in India.

From these instances, we can understand how important weddings are to Bollywood’s stars and to what extent they can go to make their wedding a grand success. They are a source of inspiration for us. They make us feel hopeful for a happy wedding with friends and family and with people we love.
