Alok has a multi-national experience building and managing large transport infrastructure projects. Currently based in Mumbai/Delhi/Hong Kong, Alok heads the South Asian operation of MVA Asia, the largest Traffic and Transport Engineering firm in Asia. Alok started his career from World Bank financed Irrigation project in Nepal, Alok has worked in consulting firms in Thailand and Hong Kong before joining Kowloon Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC), Hong Kong in 1997 where he excelled in a multitude of roles. From design and management of new railway projects, he rose up to become head of Marketing. From 2004 to 2007, Alok represented KCRC in Finance and Commerce Sub-committee (Metro Division) of the International Association of Public Transport. He was one of the founding directors for Octopus Rewards, a customer loyalty platform riding on one of the worlds most successful smart card based payment system, Octopus, where he was in board of directors. He is a part-time Assistant Professor in the Department of Urban Planning, University of Hong Kong. He has several publications to his credit and has contributed to a textbook on best practices in railways published by University of Birmingham. He is a regular speaker on multi-modal integration, public transport pricing and financing. Alok is knowledgeable in end-to-end delivery of the project ensuring that project not only complies with project specifications but also business objectives. In his last job, he was responsible for setting and meeting KCRCs revenue targets and developing strategies for pricing, service delivery, advertising, promotion and passenger communication. An engineering graduate from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, and a postgraduate degree in Transportation Engineering from Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, Alok also completed a Management program for senior executives from Richard Ivey School of Business.
