A Band of Boys is a LIVE band based out of the finance capital of India, Mumbai. The music for their first album ‘Yeh Bhi Woh Bhi’, released in 2002, elicited a phenomenal response (with the hit song ‘Meri Neend’ spearheading the sales!). This subsequently lead to sales crossing 1,00,000 units in less than a fortnight of its launch! The album sales did so well that two more videos were shot and the album re-released as ‘Gori’ with the song, Gori, spearheading the sales this time! In 2011, over 1,000 aspiring artists from all over India were interviewed and a shortlist of 250 candidates was auditioned in Mumbai. By the end of March, A Band of Boys was born, which was put through 16 hours of training every day in Hindustani classical music (vocal), physical training and body toning, and dance and aerobic rehearsals. On the basis of their selection and training process, ABOB was nominated as MTV’s ‘Ubharta Sitara’. This honour was never before given to any artist without an album or music video to their credit! In 2002, ‘Yeh Bhi Woh Bhi’, the debut album of ABOB, was released by Asha Bhosle. The chartbuster ‘Meri Neend’ made it to the top five of all the countdown shows on radio and music channels within a week of its launch. Based on the overwhelming response, three more videos were shot – ‘Ishq’, ‘She drives me crazy’ and ‘Gori’ – with two of these songs making it to the top of the charts! In 2003, the boys composed and recorded for ABOB’s second music album and the original soundtrack for their debut film, ‘Kiss Kis Ko’. In 2004, ABOB’s debut film ‘Kiss Kis Ko’ was released and within two weeks, the music album (composed by the boys themselves) was sold out, post which, ABOB started performing LIVE all over the world and India to promote their album and movie. Between 2006 and 2007, ABOB released their third album, Gaane Bhi Do Yaaron. The video-release for the song ‘Nain Katari’ climbed to the top of the charts within a week! It became a huge hit on the radio, and got widely acclaimed for its "kitsch" look and fun approach! Based on the resounding success, two more videos – ‘Aa Bhi Ja’ and ‘Sunn Lo Zara’ – were shot and aired. Predictably, the response was overwhelming. Between 2007 and 2008, ABOB released their fourth album, ‘Ghantaa! The Bell’. Due to its controversial nature (though finally pulled off from air by the media due to government pressure), it did very well with the youth through the viral network. Between 2009 and 2012, the group was given the responsibility to compose music for Hollywood movies like John Travolta-starrer From Paris with Love, and Bollywood films like Sadda Adda. They continued to perform LIVE stage shows. In 2014, they released their next single, The Ungli Song, urging India (and especially the youth) to be responsible and vote for their government. While continuing in their performing shows worldwide, touring India, and making TV appearances, ABOB’s all set to release their next musical venture – directing music for films. They have performed at places in India like Goa, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Bhubaneshwar, Bangalore, Lucknow, Calcutta, Delhi, Ludhiana, Mandi, and Guwahati.
