Sufi Sparrows is a LIVE Sufi band based out of the finance capital of India, Mumbai. The duo consists of Roop Sidhu and Dolly Sidhu. Both are accomplished performers who can quickly shift gears from singing to acting. With their soulful rendition, both have been active in the Pollywood and Bollywood scene for over six years, rendering their voices to numerous tracks.
Originally from Punjab, the sisters have impressed well-known artist career designer, Anup Kumar, who signed them up for his music company, Acme Muzic, and launched them as a classy women Sufi band called Sufi Sparrows.
Dolly, who says her life starts and ends with singing, has some smashing hit tracks to her credit like the title track of the movie, Jatt Airways, sung with Master Saleem, starring Tulip Joshi, Alfaaz and Padam Bhola, and in the movie, Kaafila, where she sang Lohri Di Raat with Sukhwinder Singh.
Among her other hits are Berukh Ho Geia Pyar Ve (with Kuldeep Raseela in the album, Mela), Berukh Berukh Ho Gei Zindgi, Kajle Wale Nain (with Davinder Kohinoor), Phull Kandya Ch Khildey Ne (with Surjit Khan), and Tere Te Dil Saada Lutteya Gaya (with Kamal Khan and Mangi Mahal). Being part of the title song in Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer ‘Bodyguard’ was quite special for her.
Roop Sidhu started her acting career in the Gurdas Mann starrer Punjabi movie, Mini Punjab, and later ventured into television with the serial called Bhasker Bharti on Sony Entertainment Television. Since then, she has found roles in mythology-based shows like Shani Dev (NDTV) and Armaanon Ka Balidaan – Aarakshan (NDTV), based on the infamous Mandal Commission violence.
More recently, Roop Sidhu played the role of Menka Lalit Mansingha in Dil Ki Nazar Se Khoobsurat, a romantic drama series on Sony Entertainment Television.
